Kiamumbi - Maria Immaculata Poor Child Education Center

Missionary Sisters working in the slum regions of Nairobi (Kenya's capital city) are seeing a tremendous increase in the number of children needing assistance and even basic living necessities. In Kiamumbi, a community within Nairobi where the congregation has been working for years, the Missionary Sisters have established the Maria Immaculata Center for Poor Children. With more than 200 children living in a shelter, these little ones are among the poorest children on earth. These children desperately need food, clothing, shelter, medicine and education.

	History: Mercy is an orphan. Her mother died due to HIV. She is a bright girl both physically and spiritually fine.

	Name: Juliet
	Date of Birth: 2006
	School: Mary Immaculata
	History: Juliet comes from a very humble background. Her mother is a single parent who tries to run a very small business, but cannot afford to pay her daughters’ school fees. Juliet’s father passed away last year through an accident leaving her mother with two small children. Juliet is the first born. She is a very bright girl whose talent is singing. She says she would like to be a pilot when she grows up. Her best subjects are Math and English.

	Date of Birth:   2005
	School: Maria Immaculata
	History:  Antony is in Class 2.  He is very bright and works very hard in his studies.  He loves football, while his best subject is Science and English.  He would like to be a teacher when he grows up so that he is able to teach the children in our community.  He is from a very humble background.  Antony is the first born of his family.  His mother works as a cook in our convent.
